TWHST is managed by a Management Committee, which is elected each year at the Annual General Meeting.
The Committee isn't an elite group of bodies who are unapproachable! Find out more about the committee below!

"I am father of club members Madeleine, 16 Claudine, 12 and Ines, 11 I have been club chair since January 2005, having been on the committee for about 18 months prior to that date.
I live in Ripon with Roseline and the girls although it would be much more convenient if we bought a mobile home to meet the need to be in various locations throughout the North of England most weekends.
By profession I am a solicitor and a partner at Shirtcliffe and Co, Thirsk and Tunnard & Co Ripon where I practice family law, divorce and financial matters arising from that, children issues and dealing with the rights of separating couples.
My hobby is music, listening to pop rock world and acoustic music usually in the car on the move.
A little known fact - I play the guitar."

"I am father of James and Harry and compared to a lot of swim club members am new to the ‘swimming circuit’ but have become involved through the boys competitive nature and our insistence they learn to swim!!
I live and work in Thirsk and am married to Nicky, unfortunately work and the kids have put paid to any hobbies I may have had but will no doubt pick them up when I am old and grey. (Not too long to wait I hear you say)
I enjoy any aspect of DIY but this takes me a long time to achieve as I am somewhat of a perfectionist something that my wife despairs with. I have been know to tackle most things with regard to this even to building my own garden shed from scratch…. I mean scratch, no flat pack for me, no lots of planks of wood and a planer!! And 3 months later it now takes pride of place in the garden."

"I am a Detective working at Northallerton and have been so for the last 10 years. This work has included working as a drugs officer, traffic cop and firearms officer. Karen is my wife and she did work in a bank but now works as a school secretary at Kirkby Fleetham Village School.
We live in Northallerton and the whole family enjoy sports both taking part and watching. Karen enjoys the gym and swimming. She did play a lot of squash for many years but the children came along and spoilt that. I play golf and have played to a single figure handicap for some 35 years at all sorts of levels.
The boys Greg and Glen both swim because at first we felt that it was something they should do. Competing came along later.
Like many parents we seem to suffer as parent taxi but get great pleasure at seeing the achievements and plans of the boys.
Swimming may be something in the family as grandad did swim for the Army and played water polo for them."

"I have two children - Jessica and Alex - made up to three if you count
Chris (my husband!).
I am a swimming teacher and work at both Northallerton and Thirsk
Swimming Pools on a casual basis.
Swimming has slowly taken over my spare time but should I ever get a
spare moment or two I do enjoy a dip myself!
I sometimes ask people to repeat what they have said because English is
my second langauge and sometimes English accents confuse me!

I have been involved with the club for 12 years since my children Richard and Rachel started swimming.
I enjoy skiing, tennis and cycling.
I don’t enjoy sitting on hard seats at Gala’s for hours as I have done when Richard and Rachel were swimming competively!"

"Having started working at Thirsk Pool in 2002, my involvement with Thirsk White Horse grew. Now my day job is Assistant Manager at Hambleton Leisure Centre.
I now try to stay fit and active, swimming regularly although not as much as I would like to with the Club. I also enjoy cycling when the sun shines!
My hobbies are mainly swimming, computing and trying to find time for a social life as well!!"

"I'm the oldest member of the club. Spent a few years as secretary and am now responsible for trying to get
TWHST Swim 21 accredited - a thankless task but one that has to be done!
I'm down at the club most Tuesday nights and swim every sat morning 8 - 9.
I also run a specialised car boot to raise funds for TWHST."

I am father to Jonathan and Matthew both of whom are active members of the club. I work as a Police Constable and have been employed
in the Hambleton area for over twenty years. I am married to Carol who is a Practice Nurse in Thirsk.
I have chlorine in my blood and have been involved in competitive swimming since the age of 10, having been fortunate enough
to have competed at County and National age group level as a youth. I still compete at Masters level and on occasions turn out for
the club in galas.
I am the club Child Protection officer and help out with teaching.
My other hobbies include cycling (both road and mountain), gardening and watching my beloved home town football team Blackpool FC."
